During the day of September 6th 2022, a fire broke out, soon this fire would have burned 76,788 acres and destroyed and damaged 46 homes and many wildlife habitats, this fire was known as the Mosquito Fire. During its time ablaze it burned near Stumpy Meadows, Georgetown Divides water source, as well as 3 miles of Georgetown Divide Public Utility Districts ditch. Soon the ditch was filled with ash and debris. The dirty and thick water went through the grizzlies and clotted up the filters. This is the story of how GDPUD came to clean the ditch and keep the water flowing to all of the community.
